2027 Rolls-Royce Spectre

2027 Rolls-Royce Spectre

2027 Rolls-Royce Spectre Expert Review

Reviewed by Alex Leanse

A smooth, silent electric powertrain seems ideal for a Rolls-Royce, and the Spectre demonstrates it. This massive two-door coupe pairs traditional Rolls-Royce values with an electric powertrain that, in some respects, suits the brand’s ultra-luxury character even better than a traditional V-12 engine. Rivals include the Bentley Continental GT and BMW i7.

The Spectre was introduced for 2024, and for 2027 is updated to Series II specification.

Gains Tesla-style NACS charging port

Faster charging speeds

Increased range

More power and torque

Recalibrated accelerator responses

New paint and wheel choices introduced

Iced Black treatment for Black Badge adds matte details

Bamboo-derived Duality Twill fabric introduced

Redesigned dashboard clock

Unified dashboard gauge cluster and infotainment panel

Additional trim and veneer choices

In the Spectre, electrification only enhances the celebrated Rolls-Royce character. The all-electric powertrain makes this coupe even quieter and smoother than the brand’s V-12 models, as the lack of noise and vibration improves serenity .

Ride quality is outstanding, though the available 23-inch wheels introduce a slight edge of harshness; the 22s may be the better fit for ultimate comfort.

The Spectre isn’t just about isolation, though. Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain delivers immense power. Braking is strong for something so large, and standard all-wheel steering helps the big coupe feel unexpectedly nimble when pressed.

The Black Badge model is even more powerful and has slightly sharper handling , but that seems antithetical to the Spectre’s cosseting intentions.

As with any Rolls-Royce, buyers can choose from an enormous range of colors, materials, trim finishes, and bespoke details—assuming the monumental starting price isn’t already a barrier.

Although the Spectre’s range and charging capabilities weren’t great, the updated Series II model introduced for 2027 makes improvements in those areas. Regardless, those drawbacks are unlikely to bother clients drawn to its extraordinary comfort, effortless road manners, and unmistakable presence.

Top-Ranked Competitors:

Is the Spectre Quick?

For Series II specification, Rolls-Royce strengthened the Spectre’s dual-motor electric powertrain. It now makes 593 hp and 749 lb-ft of torque, up from 577 hp and 664 lb-ft. With that, expect the 2027 Spectre to launch from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds.

In MotorTrend testing, the Spectre braked to a stop from 60 mph in 105 feet, a remarkable result for such a heavy vehicle.

Black Badge could be thought of as Rolls-Royce’s sport package, adding power and sharper responses. In Black Badge form, the Spectre Series II is the most powerful Rolls-Royce model, with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain now producing 670 hp and 811 lb-ft, up from 659 hp and 792 lb-ft originally.

The Infinity and Spirited drive modes are meant to provide the full measure of that performance, unlocking a 0–60-mph time under 3.5 seconds. As with other Black Badge models, the Spectre adopts darker visual treatments inside and out, along with exclusive trim and finish choices.

Rolls-Royce doesn’t build true sports cars, but the Black Badge Spectre may be the closest the marque has come .

Spectre Range and Charging

Driving range and charging performance for the original Spectre weren’t so impressive, but the updated Series II model makes improvements in those areas. The vehicle’s battery has been revised, increasing the driving range by up to 18 percent, to about 308 miles.

Additionally, it can now charge 14 percent faster, reducing the 5–80 percent charge time to slightly more than 30 minutes. Another big change is the switch to a NACS charging port , the standard designed by Tesla that will allow the Spectre to plug in at Supercharger stations.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

The Spectre comes equipped with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and other driver assists.

Is the Spectre a Two-Seater?

Although it has two doors, the Spectre is a four-seat coupe. There are two smaller seats behind the main front seats, all treated with opulent upholstery and luxurious details—the back seats aren’t as spacious but are otherwise just as nice.

In the 2027 Spectre, a digital gauge display and 12.3-inch touchscreen are paired within a single enclosure. The infotainment has Apple CarPlay , Android Auto , and built-in navigation. There are USB ports and a wireless charging pad to keep devices powered up.

An available Bespoke audio upgrade improves the Spectre’s interior sound quality.

How Much Does a New Spectre Cost?

Pricing for a 2027 Spectre is expected to start at far higher than $400,000 before any options are added; the Black Badge version costs about $70,000 more.

In Rolls-Royce tradition, options are plentiful, covering paints, wheels, interior upholstery and trim, and personalized details. The possibilities are limited only by technical feasibility and a Spectre buyer’s willingness to spend.

Spectre Convertible?

Rolls-Royce currently has no convertible in its lineup, but that could change if the brand decides to spin an open-top model from the Spectre. As the company’s only two-door, the Spectre would be a logical starting point.

It may not wear the Spectre name—after all, the convertible counterpart to the Wraith was called the Dawn. Whatever it’s called, the formula seems obvious: take the Spectre’s serene luxury, impressive performance, and palatial details, then remove the roof for an even greater sense of occasion.
