2027 McLaren GTS

2027 McLaren GTS Expert Review

Reviewed by Alex Leanse

McLaren is known for creating focused driver’s cars. Although Its GTS takes a different, relatively relaxed dynamic approach, a mid-engine layout still gives the GTS sporty dynamics and arresting looks.

Introduced as the GT for model year 2020, the car was renamed GTS in its 2025 update. High-performance exotic rivals to the McLaren GTS include the Ferrari Amalfi, Aston Martin Vantage, and Bentley Continental GT.

Orange-painted engine start/stop button becomes standard

Blue brake calipers added to options list

Smoked White, Ardennes Green, and Volt added to paint palette

Additional Alcantara interior trim becomes available

Rather than embodying the intensity of McLaren's track-focused machines, the GTS brings a more polished, practical character to the lineup. The result is a striking coupe that is not only comfortable enough for long drives but also genuinely easy to live with .

It’s still properly quick, rides with impressive composure, and has ample cargo space for a mid-engine supercar, as well. It makes a compelling case for dialing back absolute performance in favor of sporty grand touring.

Shortcomings mostly relate to refinement. At low speeds, the powertrain can feel rougher than it should, and at high speeds rivals are more precise. The infotainment is a bit clumsy, and the screen is small and prone to glare.

In a category where expectations are very high, the GTS has some dynamic blemishes . Its increasing age is a concern, too, but the GTS remains a stylish and enjoyable supercar with a uniquely appealing layout.

Top-Ranked Competitors:

McLaren GTS V-8 Engine

McLaren equips the mid-engine GTS with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that produces 626 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. That output goes through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic to the rear wheels. Launching from 0 to 60 mph should take about 3.0 seconds. Expect fuel economy to come in at about 15/22 mpg city/highway.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

A lack of common driver assists and active safety aids indicates the GTS’ age. Standard features include rain-sensing windshield wipers and front and rear parking sensors. It's not available with blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, or other useful systems. A nose lift system is optional.

Cargo Space and Interior Room

Compared to typical supercars, the GTS is practical and spacious. There’s a 5.3-cubic-foot frunk under the hood and a 14.8-cubic-foot hold under the rear glass, above the engine—which gets that cargo somewhat toasty.

The GTS has a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Bluetooth, built-in navigation, and USB Apple CarPlay connectivity. There’s also a 12.3-inch digital gauge display.

Above the standard four-speaker audio system, a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium setup is available.

How Much Is a McLaren GTS?

At slightly less than $240,000 to start, the 2027 GTS is the cheapest new McLaren model. Standard features include soft-closing dihedral doors, full LED lighting, manually adjustable seats and steering wheel, three cupholders, and dual-zone climate control.

Optional extras are plentiful—special paints, wheels, colored brake calipers, carbon-fiber trim, upholstery upgrades, and technology packages can easily add six figures to the price.
