2027 Bentley Flying Spur

2027 Bentley Flying Spur Expert Review

Reviewed by Alex Leanse

Essentially a four-door version of the iconic Continental GT coupe, the Flying Spur is Bentley’s entrant in the ultra-luxury sedan segment.

Although its styling and layout adhere to Bentley tradition, the Flying Spur’s technology and hybrid powertrain show the British automaker’s contemporary capabilities. Rivals include the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Rolls-Royce Ghost.

After being heavily revised for 2025, the Flying Spur gets another update for 2027.

Sporty Flying Spur S model introduced

Virtuoso Collection trim becomes available

Redesigned single headlight enclosures

Grille better integrated into front bumper

New 22-inch wheel designs

Dark Teal paint added to options list

Five seat styles now available

The Flying Spur distills Bentley’s storied blend of performance and luxury into a remarkably polished sedan. It feels every bit as indulgent as a limousine, yet it also drives with sporty athleticism.

All-wheel steering helps shrink the car around the driver, while the adaptive air suspension delivers the kind of calm, composed ride expected of a Bentley. Find a winding road, and the big sedan responds with surprising agility and genuine driver appeal.

Bentley’s departed W-12 engine delivered effortless, linear acceleration, but the V-8 plug-in hybrid that’s now standard in the Flying Spur is an excellent replacement . It delivers strong performance, with useful electric-only driving capability as an added eco-conscious bonus.

Inside, the Flying Spur shows why it’s so expensive with craftsmanship few luxury sedans can match. Compared to more common rivals, the Flying Spur delivers exceptional dynamics, quality, and comfort.

Top-Ranked Competitors:

How Powerful Is the Flying Spur?

In base, Azure, and S specification, the V-8 PHEV powertrain makes 671 hp and 686 lb-ft of torque, good for an estimated 0–60-mph time of 3.9 seconds.

The Flying Spur Speed and Mulliner get a different tune that takes output to 771 hp and 738 lb-ft, cutting the 0–60 launch to 3.3 seconds.

Is the Flying Spur a Hybrid?

Every Flying Spur is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine with an electric motor inside the eight-speed automatic transmission.

With that, expect hybrid fuel economy of about 19 mpg combined, but the Flying Spur can also provide about 30 miles of all-electric driving range from its 25.9-kWh battery. Level 2 charging tops out at 11 kW; Level 3 DC fast charging is not available.

Safety and Driver Assist Features

The Flying Spur only includes front automatic emergency braking, intersection collision avoidance, emergency evasive steering assist, and front and rear parking sensors as standard driver assists.

Bentley offers the Flying Spur with blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Cargo Space and Interior Room

Although large and luxurious, some other sedans provide more interior space than the Flying Spur, particularly in the back seat.

The Flying Spur has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto .

The standard audio system uses 10 speakers, but buyers can upgrade to either a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup or a 21-speaker Naim system.

In standard form, the infotainment screen remains fixed on the dash, but the optional three-sided rotating display can flip to reveal either a panel with a clock, compass, and outside-temperature gauge or a veneered section that blends seamlessly with the rest of the dashboard.

A head-up display is available, and a rear-seat entertainment package adds a pair of 10.1-inch touchscreens.

New Bentley Flying Spur S

The Flying Spur was already surprisingly sporty, but the new S model introduced for 2027 is the choice for enthusiast drivers. Although it has a mere 671 hp—not as much as the 771 hp in Speed and Mulliner models—the Flying Spur S also gets a torque-vectoring AWD system, 48-volt active chassis roll stabilization, an electronic limited-slip differential, and retuned stability control software for even better handling.

Flying Spur Virtuoso Collection

Bentley created the Flying Spur Virtuoso Collection for audiophiles. Its standout feature is a 21-speaker Naim sound system that was originally developed for the limited-production Bentley Batur .

Additionally, the Virtuoso Collection car has gold trim details and unique upholstery embroidery patterns across its available Soprano, Tenor, and Bass specification themes.

How Expensive Is a Flying Spur?

Pricing for the updated 2027 Bentley Flying Spur starts at about $250,000, but well-equipped examples can cost another six figures on top of that. Choosing Speed specification, special-order paint and upholstery options, and ultra-luxury features makes the Flying Spur even more expensive.
