2027 Lamborghini Urus Expert Review

Although Lamborghini’s legend is based on awesome two-door supercars, the Urus SUV is also outrageous in just the right way. Launched for 2019, it marked a major departure from the brand’s traditional formula, yet quickly became Lamborghini’s best seller.

The Urus remains faithful to the company’s core character, pairing exotic styling and explosive performance with a degree of luxury and technology that rivals any high-end SUV. Rival sporty luxury SUVs include the Porsche Cayenne, Ferrari Purosangue, and Aston Martin DBX.

For 2027, Lamborghini combines the SE plug-in hybrid powertrain with the Performante chassis tune to create a new range-topping Urus model: the Urus SE Performante.

Judged by the standards of an ordinary SUV, the Urus seems absurd. It’s firm-riding, not very practical, thirsty for fuel, and hugely expensive. Plenty of other SUVs offer more room, greater comfort, and comparable—or even superior—performance for far less money.

But the Urus was never intended to be sensible. Its purpose is to deliver spectacle and intensity befitting a Lamborghini. In practice, it feels less like a traditional utility vehicle and more like a four-door supercar on stilts—constantly theatrical from behind the wheel and impossible to ignore in traffic.

The SE only expands that range of talents , pairing genuine electric-only operation with brutal performance when the powertrain is unleashed.

And that’s why the Urus has proven so popular. It’s not trying to be a conventional SUV with a Lamborghini badge; it is trying to be a Lamborghini first. Like other machines from Sant’Agata, the Urus exists to stir emotions , turn heads, and take the fight to the world’s quickest performance vehicles with maximum drama.

Is the Urus a Hybrid?

Lamborghini now builds the Urus with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. The Urus SE combines a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 with an electric motor inside the eight-speed automatic transmission for total output of 789 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque.

Expect a 0–60 mph time of about 3.0 seconds. What’s more, the PHEV system can provide around 35 miles of all-electric driving range from its 25.9-kWh battery.

The Most Powerful Gas SUV: New 2027 Urus SE Performante

For 2027 Lamborghini introduces what’s currently the most powerful gas-powered SUV in the world: the Urus SE Performante , which makes 800 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. That power doesn’t only come from combustion, as an electric motor in the transmission helps.

The Urus SE Performante is also lighter thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber. Overall, the chassis is tuned for a sharper feel, and aerodynamics are refized for more downforce.

Despite the track-oriented focus, the Urus SE Performante gains a Rally drive mode for off-road fun. Pricing for the 2027 Urus SE Performante is expected to begin at above $300,000.

Safety and Driver-Assist Features

Standard Urus SE driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Cargo Space and Interior Room

Although it’s more practical than a Revuelto, the Urus SE doesn’t have much cargo space compared to similarly sized vehicles. Even so, the Urus is decently spacious for an exotic SUV.
