It seems that Honda is preparing a major update for both its Passport SUV and Accord sedan for the 2028 model year. A report from Automotive News indicates that the Accord will undergo "pretty major" modifications, while the Passport is anticipated to receive a more rugged design and an enhanced off-road-focused TrailSport trim. These redesigned models are reportedly scheduled to hit the market in the latter half of 2027.

Passport TrailSport Targeting Toyota TRD
The Honda Passport is expected to venture further into rugged-SUV territory, with styling that caters to the rising consumer demand for off-road-themed vehicles. Leading this effort will be a revamped Passport TrailSport, which is predicted to feature a revised suspension with increased ride height to further improve its already solid off-road performance. If Honda aims for its TrailSport models, like the Passport, to compete with Toyota’s TRD lineup, it will need to continue pushing them in a more extreme direction.

2028 Accord Represents a Significant Shift
As for the Accord, Honda has not detailed any specific changes, but Gary Robinson, American Honda’s head of product planning, stated that the updated sedan will "feel like a new model." This indicates something more significant than a standard refresh.
Honda may have already given a glimpse of the Accord’s new direction. In May, the company showcased a hybrid sedan prototype featuring elements of the design language used for its Honda Zero Series vehicles during its now-abandoned EV push. Reports suggest that the 2028 Accord will adopt a more angular style, with slimmer headlights, a thinner grille, and other features that will steer away from the current model’s softer appearance. This closely aligns with the prototype.

The Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype was revealed in May.
The next Accord will almost certainly include a version of Honda’s latest hybrid powertrain, and the redesign may also bring Honda’s S Plus Shift system to the Accord. This simulated shifting feature debuted on the Prelude and is set to be introduced in the Civic Hybrid this fall.
